Courses

The secondary and intermediate education system in Pakistan is divided into two main stages:

Secondary Education (Matriculation) – Grades 9 & 10 (SSC – Secondary School Certificate)

This level typically includes students aged 14 to 16 years.

It consists of two years: 9th and 10th grades, leading to the SSC (Secondary School Certificate) examination.

The curriculum includes compulsory subjects such as:
⦁ English
⦁ Urdu
⦁ Mathematics
⦁ Pakistan Studies
⦁ Islamic Studies (or Ethics for non-Muslims)

Students can choose from Science Group (Biology or Computer Science) or Arts Group (Humanities, Home Economics, etc.)

The exams are conducted by regional Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE).

Intermediate Education – Grades 11 & 12 (HSSC – Higher Secondary School Certificate)

This level includes students aged 16 to 18 years.

It consists of two years (1st Year & 2nd Year or FA/FSc/ICS/ICom), leading to the HSSC (Higher Secondary School Certificate).

Students select specialized streams based on their future career goals, including
⦁ Pre-Medical (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)
⦁ Pre-Engineering (Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics)
⦁ Computer Science (ICS) (Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics)
⦁ Commerce (ICom) (Accounting, Business Studies, Economics)
⦁ Humanities (FA) (Subjects like Psychology, Sociology, Fine Arts, etc.)

Both Matriculation (SSC) and Intermediate (HSSC) levels follow a standardized curriculum regulated by the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB) and Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE), along with provincial education boards.

Assessment & Certification:

Examinations at both levels are conducted by respective BISE boards across Pakistan.

Successful students receive their Matric (SSC) and Intermediate (HSSC) certificates, which are required for higher education.

The intermediate level is a crucial bridge for students, preparing them for university education or professional studies in Pakistan and abroad.
